The Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Educational Supervision, and in cooperation with the Directorate-General of Administrative Affairs, concluded implementing the training program (The Reality of Student Affairs Practices for Schools in the Sultanate of Oman). The training program targeted (26) trainees from the heads of student affairs departments, educational supervision employees in the Ministry’s General Diwan, and in educational directorates in the governorates.
The papers presented by specialists in student affairs, the auditors’ service, and those concerned with children’s rights at the Ministry of Social Development focused on the roles that must be performed by the heads of student affairs departments in educational directorates regarding supervising the implementation of regulations and school systems for organizing students in public and private schools in terms of following up on behavioral discipline procedures and academic regularity with the aim of improving and improving work in this aspect. The papers also focused on the importance of enhancing effective communication between members of the student affairs committees, integrating their roles, activating school systems and laws in accordance with what was approved in those regulations and systems, and participating in decision-making to raise work productivity and quality of performance with unifying the work in these departments in terms of studying topics related to student cases, their path, and the requirements that must be available to them so that the study is according to organized and correct foundations. The papers also aimed to intensify awareness of parents and the local community about registering new students in the first grade in the specified periods by the Ministry, and to continue follow-up of the implementation of school rules and regulations.
The training program aimed to identify the latest developments in the student affairs regulations, adapt them to the variables of the educational field, provide trainees with the skills of reading and analyzing indicators, and employ them effectively, use the most important electronic programs and applications that contribute to simplifying the work of student affairs departments. The program also sought to determine the departments’ experiences in the field of student affairs to be used in developing mechanisms for dealing with students.
